1. Who We Are
HilandSEO is an AI-powered SEO automation platform that helps businesses, marketers, and content creators produce search-engine-optimized content at scale. Our services include AI-generated article writing, blog automation, WordPress and Shopify integration, SEO on-page optimization, SEO audit tools, and more.
For the purposes of this policy, “HilandSEO,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to HilandSEO Technology Limited (海藍得科技有限公司), a company incorporated in Hong Kong (Company/Business Registration No. 79642742), which operates the HilandSEO platform and is the data controller responsible for your personal information. “You” and “your” refer to you — the user, visitor, or customer.
2. Information We Collect
We only collect information that helps us deliver, improve, and personalize your experience. Here’s what that includes:
a) Information You Provide Directly
When you sign up, subscribe to a plan, or interact with our platform, you may provide us with your name and contact details (such as your email address), information about your purchases when you buy a plan or extra credits (such as the plan, amount, billing details and payment status, which Link shares with us; you enter your card details directly into the Link checkout, and we never receive your full card number), website URLs you connect through our WordPress or Shopify integrations, competitor URLs and industry context submitted through our SEO Audit Tool, content preferences and custom brand voice settings, and any messages or inquiries you send through our support or contact channels.
b) Information We Collect Automatically
When you visit or use our platform, we may automatically collect your IP address and general geographic location, browser type, device information, and operating system, pages visited, time spent on pages, and clickstream data, referral source (how you found us), and cookies and similar tracking technologies (more on this in Section 7).
c) Information from Third-Party Integrations
If you connect your WordPress or Shopify site to HilandSEO, we may access limited site data necessary to publish and optimize your content. This includes page metadata, blog post structures, and publishing settings. We do not access your customers’ personal data from these platforms.
3. The Hiland App for Shopify
This section applies when you install Hiland AI SEO Blog Writer from the Shopify App Store.
What the app reads and writes in your store — With the permissions you approve at install (write_content and write_files), the app reads your store’s name, its myshopify and primary domains, and your blogs and blog articles. It creates and updates the blog articles you ask it to publish, and uploads the images those articles use to your store’s Files. It does not read your customers, orders or payment information, and it does not change your theme.
How we use it — Only to provide the app: to set up your Hiland account, to write and publish the articles you ask for, to keep the articles Hiland published up to date when you edit them in Hiland, and to answer support requests.
Your account — Installing the app creates a Hiland account linked to your store. We keep the keywords, article drafts and settings you create in it. The access tokens Shopify gives the app are stored encrypted.
Billing — If you install the app from Shopify, your plan is billed by Shopify on your Shopify invoice, under Shopify’s terms. We receive your plan, its status and its billing period from Shopify; we never receive your payment details.
Customer data — The app does not collect or store personal data about your customers. If Shopify sends us a customer data request or a customer redaction request for your store, we confirm that we hold no such data.
When you uninstall — Uninstalling the app stops its access to your store: we delete the access tokens and stop AutoBlog. Shopify notifies us 48 hours later, and within 30 days of that notice we delete the store data we hold for your shop (copies of your store’s articles, settings tied to the store, and tokens), keeping only the records tax and accounting rules require, such as which plan you paid for and when. Articles already published to your blog stay on your blog; they are your content.
Who processes it for us — Hosting: Hetzner (servers) and Supabase (database and file storage). Article writing and images: OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to. Search research: DataForSEO. Each receives only what it needs for its part; for writing, that is your keyword, your business description and research notes, never your store’s tokens.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
To Deliver Our Services — This includes generating AI-written articles, automating blog publishing to your WordPress or Shopify site, performing SEO audits, optimizing meta tags and internal links, and scheduling content on your behalf.
To Process Payments — Paid plans (Starter, US$29/month; Growth, US$79/month; Pro, US$199/month; each also yearly) and extra credit packs are Sold through Link. Sold through Link, LLC (“Link”), a Stripe affiliate, is the merchant of record for your purchase. Link and Stripe process your payment, calculate and collect any applicable taxes, and handle your payment details under their own privacy policies. We receive information about each transaction from Link, such as your name, email address, phone number, billing address, tax ID if you provide one, limited payment method details (for example card brand and last four digits), the plan, amount and payment status. We use it to activate, renew and manage your subscription, handle refunds and answer billing questions. We never receive or store your full card number. If you install the Hiland app from the Shopify App Store, your plan is billed by Shopify instead (see Section 3).
To Improve Our Platform — We analyze usage patterns and performance data to improve our service and develop new features. Articles are written by third-party AI models that we access through OpenRouter; we do not train AI models on your content or your store’s data.
To Communicate With You — We may send you service-related updates, billing notifications, support responses, and (with your consent) marketing content about new features, tips, and promotions. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time.
To Provide Customer Support — When you contact support, we use your information to help you.
5. How We Share Your Information
We respect your data. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. However, we may share your information in these limited circumstances:
Service Providers — We work with trusted third-party vendors who help us operate our platform, including cloud hosting providers, analytics services, and email delivery platforms. These providers only access the data they need to perform their services and are contractually obligated to protect it.
Payment Processors — Stripe and its affiliate Sold through Link, LLC (“Link”) process payments for our paid plans. Link is the merchant of record for purchases made through our checkout. Both handle your payment information under their own privacy policies (Stripe Privacy Policy, Link Privacy Policy). We share with them only what is needed to complete, manage and support your purchase, such as your email address and the plan you choose.
WordPress & Shopify — When you connect your site, certain data flows between our platform and these services to enable automated publishing. This is limited to content and site configuration data necessary for the integration to function.
Legal Requirements — We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of HilandSEO, our users, or the public.
Business Transfers — In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you close your account or ask us to delete your data, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or compliance purposes. For example, we keep records of purchases and refunds for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Link and Stripe keep their own transaction records under their privacy policies.
Content generated through our platform and published to your connected websites remains on your site — we do not control or delete content on your WordPress or Shopify pages after publication.
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences, understand how you interact with our platform, measure the effectiveness of our marketing efforts, and deliver a smoother, faster user experience.
Types of Cookies We Use:
Essential Cookies are required for the platform to function properly, such as authentication and security cookies. Analytics Cookies help us understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it. Marketing Cookies are used to deliver relevant advertisements and measure campaign performance.
You can manage your cookie preferences through your browser settings. Please note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of our platform.
8. Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously. Our platform employs industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (SSL/TLS), secure cloud infrastructure with regular security audits, access controls limiting employee access to personal data, and regular monitoring for vulnerabilities and threats.
While no system is 100% immune to risk, we are committed to safeguarding your information using best practices and continuously improving our security posture.
9. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Access — You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. Correction — You can ask us to update or correct inaccurate data. Deletion — You can request that we delete your personal data, subject to legal obligations. Opt-Out — You can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in our emails. Data Portability — You can request your data in a structured, commonly used format. Withdraw Consent — Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

10. Children’s Privacy
HilandSEO is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from anyone under 18, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
11. International Data Transfers
HilandSEO Technology Limited is incorporated in Hong Kong, and our service providers may process your information in other countries. Link and Stripe may process payment information in the United States and other countries. Where your information is transferred across borders, we take steps to put appropriate safeguards in place in line with applicable data protection laws.
12. Third-Party Links
Our website and platform may contain links to third-party websites, tools, or services (such as WordPress.org, Shopify, YouTube, and others). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or business practices. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by posting a prominent notice on our website or sending you an email. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was most recently revised.
